Plant Description

Thinking of Wimbledon, Henley and Royal ascot, strawberries are a staple food for the British summer. We are able to offer a range of varieties that are suitable for planting out either in the soil or in hanging baskets and patio pots.

Each variety has a different sweetness level, this is measured by a Brix value, the higher the level, the sweeter the fruit. When the plants came into the nursery, the greenness and vigour of the plants really hits you, they are a joy to grow.

'Ruby Ann' is a compact plant, that produces a cascade of ruby red flowers which develop into medium sized bright red fruit throughout the summer, this variety can be regarded as an ever bearer, so you have a long harvesting period, and will make an attractive addition to your patio over the summer months. The berries are conical in shape,  forming little taste bombs waiting to be plucked over the summer period.

The fruit has a delicate sweet flavour with a high level of Vitamin c content. Final plant height is quite short, making it really suitable for hanging baskets.

Management of the crop is important, they will need to be watered regularly, and fed regularly, to get the best out of the plant. Don’t over water, as this can be as damaging as under watering. If planting in soil, a free draining loam soil, with plenty of organic matter will allow the plant to grow to its best potential.

Brix Value: 9-12.

What does pot diameter mean?

Pot diameter is measured along the top of each pot to give an indication of overall plant size on arrival.

We only offer plants in 13cm or 11cm pots. This means that plants are established and ready to be planted straight into your garden as soon as they arrive.

*Our specially designed boxes require no plastic inners. The plant pots are (recyclable) plastic.
