About Us

Originally started in 1957 by William (Bill) Rowland when he purchased a 6 acre plum orchard, he gradually converted the orchard to a glasshouse nursery, building 2.5 acres of Westdock dutch light glasshouses. He specialised in growing lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and chrysanthemums, a typical small horticultural nursery, nestled in the Vale of Evesham.
The next generation of the family continue to run the site, having extensively developed new glasshouses in 2019. Cropping has changed to the production of ornamental plants, which historically have been sold into the wholesale trade. A full cropping schedule has been developed so that we produce plants for 12 months in the year. We produce a mixture of hardy perennials, annuals and flowering plants such as cyclamen.
The business continues to evolve, the latest development being to sell plants direct to the public using mail order. We differ from many other mail order companies in that we are nurserymen first and retailers second. We therefore know the plants we are retailing and can ensure that only good quality plants are allowed to leave the nursery. We use plastic free packaging so that we minimise our environmental footprint. The energy used on the site is largely produced using solar panels, the surplus being exported to the grid. The plants are produced in compost containing 50% Peat, so we retain the benefits from growing in peat, whilst minimising environmental damage to our planet.
We hope that you enjoy the plants that you purchase from us, please plant them carefully, feed them well, water and look after them when needed, so that they can reward you by growing into beautiful plants.
