Plant Description
Bright, bold, and full of garden energy, ‘Radio Red’ is a real eye-catcher. The flowers
are a deep, vibrant scarlet — rich in colour and irresistible to bees and butterflies. It’s
one of those plants that seems to glow in the sunlight and brings lovely warmth to
borders and beds.
‘Radio Red’ likes a sunny spot, preferably in well-drained soil. Once established, it’s
wonderfully low-maintenance, just water during dry spells, remove faded blooms to
encourage new ones, and give it a light spring tidy.
Its upright shape and strong colour make it a perfect companion for ornamental
grasses, lavender, and other cottage garden favourites. A bold beauty we love
growing year after year.
We have grown this variety in our own garden, and have been amazed by the growth vigour and colour vibrancy of the flowers. We haven’t had to dead head the plants, and even in the middle of October, they still form a riot of bright red colour in the garden. They are still attracting bees to their flowers, for we, Salvia Radio Red is a must have plant.
Why choose Rowlands Plants?
We are a family-run nursery that has been growing strong, healthy, vigorous plant since 1957.
What does pot diameter mean?
Pot diameter is measured along the top of each pot to give an indication of overall plant size on arrival.
We only offer plants in 13cm or 11cm pots. This means that plants are established and ready to be planted straight into your garden as soon as they arrive.
