Plant Description
The Primula group of plants includes over 500 species, commonly known as primroses. Among them, Primrose ‘Obsidian’ is a truly striking variety. Its intensely rich dark green foliage contrasts beautifully with the delicate peach-coloured blooms, creating a bold yet elegant display.
This particular primrose is hardy down to -16°C and begins to flower from late January, offering one of the first signs that winter is fading and spring is on its way. These cheerful pops of colour bring life to the garden just when it’s needed most.
For best results, plant Primrose ‘Obsidian’ Peach in partial shade, spacing each plant 6 to 12 inches apart. It thrives in cool, moist, well-drained soil. Regularly deadhead spent flowers to encourage prolonged blooming.
In ancient folklore, primroses were seen as symbols of youth and protection. They were often laid at doorways to ward off evil spirits, believed to be a charm against dark forces and a sign of good fortune.
