Description

Penstemon Polaris Red is a striking variety known for its short, sturdy flower stems that become heavily encrusted with blooms, creating a bold and colourful display. The plants have a naturally self-branching habit, forming neat, well-shaped growth that produces a generous flush of flowers. Each bloom is shaped like a bell, with an intense red exterior contrasting beautifully with a clean white interior, giving the plant real visual impact in beds, borders and containers. These charming blooms are also a favourite with pollinators, attracting bees and butterflies to your garden.

This short-stemmed series is admired for its strong colour presence and reliable performance, making it a standout in summer garden displays. It brings structure and height without towering, allowing it to mix beautifully with other flowering plants, pollinator-friendly beds, and cottage-style planting schemes.

Plant Penstemon Polaris Red in full sun to light shade, ideally in well-drained soil that isn’t prone to staying wet. Water regularly while establishing, then as needed through the season, they prefer soil that is moist but not waterlogged. Feeding lightly every few weeks during the growing season will help maintain flowering and plant vigour. Removing faded flowers encourages repeat blooming and keeps the plant looking fresh. In colder areas, a little winter protection such as mulch around the base can help plants overwinter well.

Reliable, colourful and easy to grow, Penstemon Polaris Red is perfect for adding lasting summer colour, attracting pollinators, and providing structure to gardens, containers, and mixed plantings.

What does pot diameter mean?

Pot diameter is measured along the top of each pot to give an indication of overall plant size on arrival.

We only offer plants in 13cm or 11cm pots. This means that plants are established and ready to be planted straight into your garden as soon as they arrive.

*Our specially designed boxes require no plastic inners. The plant pots are (recyclable) plastic.
