Plant Description

Lupin ‘Legendary Blue Shades’ is a strong, statuesque perennial that brings classic
cottage garden charm with bold, modern presence. Its tall, upright form is topped
with large, intensely coloured flower spikes, in deep shades of blue rising proudly
above a base of lush, healthy green foliage. The plant stands out for its uniform habit
and robust growth, forming tidy, well-structured clumps that add striking height and
rhythm to any garden setting.

Ideal for planting in sunny or lightly dappled borders, Lupin ‘Legendary Blue Shades’
thrives in moist but well-drained soil, where it can bask in the warmth and grow to its
full potential. It looks particularly beautiful in drifts or groups, nestled among other
cottage garden favourites like delphiniums and digitalis. Its rich colouring brings
depth and contrast, while the tall spires add elegant structure to softer planting
combinations.

This Lupin is a pollinator favourite, attracting bees with its nectar-rich blooms from
late spring into early summer. To keep the display looking its best, remove faded
flower spikes to encourage a second flush of blooms and water during dry periods,
especially in its first year. A light mulch, but do avoid smothering the crown, in spring
helps retain moisture and keep weeds down and once flowering has finished for the
season, the foliage can be left to die back naturally before cutting down in autumn.
Lupin ‘Legendary Blue Shades’ offers both dramatic colour and refined form.

Whether in a traditional cottage border or a modern naturalistic scheme, it brings
bold beauty, healthy growth and long-lasting appeal to any summer garden.

With just a touch of care, these lupins will reward you year after year with graceful, golden blooms and that timeless, storybook charm every garden deserves. We will sell these plants in the green, before flower initiation has started, so that they can be given the maximum chance of establishing once planted out in a border.

What does pot diameter mean?

Pot diameter is measured along the top of each pot to give an indication of overall plant size on arrival.

We only offer plants in 13cm or 11cm pots. This means that plants are established and ready to be planted straight into your garden as soon as they arrive.

*Our specially designed boxes require no plastic inners. The plant pots are (recyclable) plastic.
