Plant Description
Lavender ‘White Summer’ is an English lavender variety prized for its elegant, very
attractive white flowers with a subtle hint of blue. Its fragrant blooms and silvery-
green foliage make it a beautiful addition to borders, containers or herb gardens,
providing both visual appeal and a gentle, soothing scent.
For planting, choose a sunny, well-drained spot, lavender dislikes waterlogged soil,
so avoid heavy clay or areas where water collects. It can also thrive in containers if
drainage is good. Water moderately after planting to establish roots. Once
established, it is drought-tolerant and prefers the soil to dry out between waterings.
After flowering, lightly prune the plant to maintain a compact shape and encourage
bushy growth, but avoid cutting into old wood, as this can reduce flowering.
Lavender generally requires little feeding, a light mulch of grit or sand can help
improve drainage, but avoid rich, nitrogen-heavy fertilisers, which can reduce
flowering. English lavender is hardy, but in colder areas, provide protection from
harsh winter winds and heavy frost, especially for young plants or those in
containers.
Deadhead spent flowers to encourage repeat blooming. Lavender also attracts
pollinators like bees and butterflies, making it a great plant for wildlife-friendly
gardens.
