Plant Description
Dianthus ‘Mountain Frost’ - Ruby Snow is a hardy, compact alpine perennial that produces an abundance of beautifully fragrant flowers over an exceptionally long season. It’s neat, mounded shape is filled with soft grey-green foliage that sets off each bloom perfectly. The flowers open with a delicate light pink outer edge, with a rich ruby-pink centre, creating a striking two-tone display.
This variety is remarkably resilient and shows excellent tolerance to wet weather, making it an easy and reliable choice for many garden settings. It thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained soil; water moderately, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. A light feed in spring will encourage stronger blooms, and removing faded flowers will help prolong the flowering season while keeping the plant tidy.
Dianthus ‘Ruby Snow’ is wonderfully versatile and can be grown in borders, rockeries, and raised beds, as well as in patio pots or window boxes, where its fragrance and vibrant colour can be enjoyed up close.
