Plant Description
Despite its name, Aubrieta 'Rose Red' this plant produces delicate little flowers in a deep pink to reddish-purple tone. It’s not a true red, but the blooms have a rich and vibrant appearance that really stands out. This stunning plant looks especially beautiful cascading over garden borders, walls, or nestled into rock gardens.
Aubrieta is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial, typically flowering in spring — around April to May. Its small, grey-green foliage provides interest all year round, making it a great choice for garden beds or patio pots. It's also particularly well-suited to low-maintenance gardens.
This plant prefers full sun, although it will tolerate partial shade. For the best flower colour and density, plant it in a sunny spot. Ensure the soil is well-drained, as Aubrieta doesn’t thrive in heavy, soggy conditions — this can lead to root rot.
After flowering, give the plant a light trim. This will help maintain its neat shape and encourage denser growth. Aubrieta keeps its leaves through the winter months, adding texture and depth to your garden even in the colder season.
